About this draught excluder tape & foam strips
fowong 4.9m White Window Brush Draught Excluder, 9mm
A sliding sash window has a problem that a standard foam tape cannot solve: it moves. A compressible strip is dragged and torn by the moving sash, whereas bristles brush past it and keep contact without gripping. That is why brush strip is the traditional answer for sliding windows and doors.
This fowong brush is 4.9m long, 9mm wide and 9mm thick, made of polypropylene with a self-adhesive backing in white. It suits the narrow gaps around the meeting rail and the sides of sash windows, and the white colour matches painted timber and uPVC.
Fit it to the fixed part of the frame, where the sash slides against it, and make sure the bristles lightly touch the moving surface. Clean the frame, press the strip into place and trim to length with scissors. Test the sash for a smooth glide before you stick the full length.
